I saw this amazing pic and i wanted to share it with you guys. This is actualy a Nebula that happens to have an appearance of an eye and it being in space or the "heavens", is why it was labelled the "eye of god". Its mind captivating and fascinating.
European astronomers have taken this amazing photo which is actualy a cosmic eye nicknamed the eye of god (jicho la mungu), staring down from space.
The bright blue pupil and the white of the eye are fringed by flesh coloured eyelids. This eye is so big that it's light takes two and a half years to cross from one side to the other. The object is actualy a shell of gas and dust that has been blown off by a faint central star, a fate that our own solar system would come to face five billion years to come. It lies 700 light years away from the constellation of Aquarius and can be dimly seen in small telescopes by amateur astronomers who call it the Helix Nebula. The photo was taken with a giant telescope at the European Southern Observatory, high on the mountain top of La Silla in Chille. It is so detailed that a close-up reveals distant galaxies within the central eyebal.
